Online entries to the 2010 race are now live on the website.

30 March 2009

There has been a slight mix-up with the 1st Local Male prize which was awarded to Robert Warnock.  This was a mistake as the actual winner was John Lambie from Clackmannan. This has been corrected and we apologise for any confusion caused.

22nd March 2009

The race went ahead today with 1,269 entrants in total and just under 1,100 actual runners in the field.  Thanks to everyone who entered from all of the guys in Alloa & District Round Table.  We would also like to say a big thanks to all of the local organisations who helped at the event.  Race results will be posted on this website as soon as we have them.

16th Mar 2009

Due to the volume of requests we have decided to allow runners to enter on the day.  The price to enter will be £20.00 and there is the possibility that late entrants will not receive a t-shirt/medal or goodie bag as this will depends on the actual turnout on race day.  More information can be found on this page.

15th Mar 2009

In recognition that this is effectively a 'new' course and the fact that there will be no course record to beat/course record prize we have taken the decision to increase the prize for fastest male & female to £250.00

PRESS RELEASE

Following successful negotiations with Clackmannanshire Council, Central Scotland Police and the Leisure Bowl, the race committee can confirm that the 27th Alloa Half Marathon will now start and finish from the Leisure Bowl in Parkway, Alloa.   Colin Lynch, Race Director commented "We are really pleased to be able to Start and Finish the race from the Leisure Bowl as it has all the facilities that we require.  In addition, it allows us to operate the race close to the town centre and with over 1,000 runners expected this should provided some direct economic benefit to the community."

Stephen Franklyn, Chairman of Alloa & District Round Table added "We are grateful to the Leisure Bowl for allowing us to utilise their facility together with the assistance that Clackmannanshire Council and Central Scotland Police has provided in locating a viable alternative to Lornshill Academy.   All runners that have registered on line via our web site will be notified of the change in venue by email and we will be updating our web site accordingly."

Colin Lynch, Race Director added "This years race now provides a unique opportunity to those taking part to set a course record for the new layout.   We would encourage all runners to take up the challenge of the new course and try to set a new personal best time"
